Know Your In-Laws

Remember, when you’re considering a spouse you should also consider their families. When marrying a spouse, you’re possibly marrying their families as well.

They can either be respectful to your space; non-existent; a joy to be around; or a thorn in your side.

As you get to know your one you’d like to spend the rest of your life with, get to know their families as well as they get to know yours, too.

  1. Thats a fact for sure. Most often you don’t get the one without the other.

I would not turn away from my wife though even if her in-laws were difficult. What I expect though is, that my wife is on my side 100% and not on the family side.

Once we get married we are a new close up bound, a couple that has to take responsibility together and puts each other in first place.

  2. Yes, I totally agree with you.
Knowing your (future) in-laws, before you get into marriage is a must.
Because as long as you’re married to your husband/wife– they’ll be around as well.

Luckily, in spite of different cultures my husband and I have, he’s on my side no matter what and I am on to him. And we both managed to have a good relationships to both in-laws.
